Having supplied equipment across several NSW Health facilities before, we were delighted to be given the opportunity to work with them again by updating the now dated Atherton equipment located at Blacktown Hospital.
With a 24-hour emergency service, intensive and high dependency care, sub-specialty acute medical and surgical care, and obstetrics and newborn care all part of their extensive healthcare service to the community of Western Sydney, the main aim of building a new CSSD was to increase capacity.
Atherton collaborated with NSW Health, the builder and Blacktown Hospital’s CSSD Manager to ensure that all the requirements of the CSSD were met. By creating a CSSD layout in design and meeting regularly with builders and other service providers, we were able to ensure that installation was smooth with no disruption to CSSD services.
Blacktown Hospital’s CSSD now boasts three Gen5 Series Gorilla Sterilizers, a Gen5 Series Mongoose Sterilizer, a Carriage Return Hatch and two Drying Cabinets giving them the highest capacity they’ve ever had. We were also able to supply our sterilizers with inbuilt steam, saving both time and budget by avoiding the need for stand alone clean steam generators or a stainless steel steam system.
